Support for Postpartum Depression

If you feel that you are experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression (PPD), call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) for free access to professional counselors. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, use your preferred relay service or dial 711 then 1-833-852-6262. The hotline provides: 

  • Real-time support and information ​

  • Response within a few minutes, 24/7 ​

  • Resources

  • Referrals to local and telehealth providers, counseling sessions, and virtual and in- person support groups ​

  • Culturally sensitive support ​

  • Interpreter services in 60 languages 


Getting help from your community includes social service agencies, family resource centers, faith-based groups and breastfeeding groups.


Practicing self-care can help you feel better. This includes talking about your feelings with loved ones, resting as much as you can, asking for help, making time for breaks, and learning from other mothers' experiences.
