How To Participate In Baby Steps Staten Island
The Infant Development Research Program in Staten Island recruits and assesses infants from the neonatal unit and tracks their development longitudinally from birth to two-years-old. Every few months you will be requested to visit IBR in Staten Island for age-appropriate standardized assessments to measure cognitive development, verbal and social communication, attention, and how your baby moves. There are a total of 10-12 visits that each last 30-90 minutes and you are with your baby for the entire time. Most of the assessments are video recorded for future analysis. Before your visit, you will be asked to complete on-line questionnaires about your child’s growth and development. Following each visit, you will receive feedback about how your baby is progressing and suggestions to help further promote your baby’s development. The program is voluntary and free of charge.
